Turning 15 on the Road to Freedom by Lynda Blackmon Lowery

This book is Turning 15 on the Road to Freedom. It is a civil right memoir by Lynda Blackmon Lowery about a black girls journey being part of the civil rights protesters. She talks about her experiences of going to jail and how she felt seeing all the hate and racism in her country. This book was a very new read for me because I usually read more fiction or young adult books but this book was refreshingly new.

It talked about real issues and even though it was told in a simple way it was deep and inspiring. The format of the book was basically a picture book with lots of drawing but they were drawings that brought the text to life with passion and emotion. This book was a very quick read that left me thinking. I would recommend this book to people who like phenomenal pieces of writing that are filled with emotion and informing yet still entertaining and quick.
